My year 7 induction day

Hi my name is Asran U and i am going to talk about my day in secondary school, and i'm also going to tell you some tips for your new school. On wednesday I went to Anglo Uropiean School (my secondary school) on a train. But first I had to catch the bus which was so funny we had to run after it before it went.

My Induction Day

Hi it's Brook here and yesterday (Wednesday the 7th of July 2010) I had my induction day at Great Baddow High School.

It all started in the moring where we had to turn up at Baddow at nine. They lead us to the Primmer Hall (the main hall). There they gave us a survivial guid about Baddow and a quiz book which we would do later but I didn't realise so I started doing it. luckly I realised and stoped and the teachers didn't notice. We had a register then we were split into to groups.

My group went to the libary first where we took part in a few challenges. Including :drawing a picture when the girl read out a passage, a quiz about books and films and a game where you have to guess the charater you are (we had a band around our head with a picture on). A few people won some sweets and I won two.

At break I got a fruit salad for 70p and had my sweets. It was a chance to speak to new school mates and friends.

Afterwards we had a tour of the school that was shortend.

Sorry I haven't finished I'll try to when I have time.

Day 1 photos (Isle of Wight)

Keeley and Marie Video Diary of their Activity Week so far!

IOW Day One

Hi my name's Alex and i'm on the Isle Of Wight. I'm sharing a room with Kara B, Doriane C, Megan G and me. Unfortuantely we don't have a bath. Its really nice here but the ferry ride was a bit too rough for me. In our room has three sets of bunk beds. Our rooms our next to Emily E, Angelica C, Holly H, Amy M, who were REALLY noisy. On the ferry it was really annoying because Bradley T kept on saying 'we're sinking we're drowning' i told him to be quiet cause he was saying it to annoy me but he didn't so i just went away.

We have arrived !!!!!!

 Hello Everyone

We have finally arrived at the isle of wight after a very long journey of coaches and ferries. As soon as we arrived we went straight to Amazon World! Amazon world is like an indoor jungle filled with animals. What an experience!

All of the rooms have been decided and everyone likes theirs!

Having a great time!

Ollie and Jon

Second Day of Isle of Wight

Hi it is Brook here in the Isle of Wight. It is the morning now and we are just sitting in the bar. A few people are blogging now. We got here yesterday at 5:30 and had a THREE COURSE MEAL!!! that was soooooo nice. We went to Amazon World (it was really cool because there were all sorts of animals including baby jaguars). Today we are going to a beach and a hands on farm. In the evening we are going fossils hunting with Martin Simpson.

Activity Week day 1 (Art for Ebay)

Hi everyone, i am so happy because we have been doing lots of Art. My group are Keeley, Marie, Pelin and myself, Rebecca. My group have drew a flower (very pretty) and lots of spirals and stems around it. Our special artist is Pelin who drew the flower herself and me and the others drew the spirals and the stems. Our painting is called Fashion Frenzy because our group name is called Fashion and Frenzy because it is quite mad! Year six are having a smashing good time with two different activitys (table tennis and art (oviously). Everyone is drawing different things, at the end we are going to put our art on ebay and sell it!

My Half Term

Thorpe Park.

Hello my name is Megan and on Tuesday me and my family went to Thorpe Park, I wasn't really looking forward to it as I don't like rollercoasters but it was a brilliant day out! Despite the weather (it was raining all day) me and my family still had a great time! As it was raining the queues weren't very long so I queued up and got on the rides in no time! I went on a ride called "Flying Fish" (I will post a picture at the bottom) about ten times! I went on the spinning tea cups about three times and the rapid ride three times! We had a really fun day out at Thorpe Park, if you would like to look at the website here is the address.... http://www.thorpepark.com/

Chessington.

On Wednesday we went to Chessington World Of Adventures, it was ok but not as good as Thorpe. First me, Hannah (my 14 year old sister) and Dad went on the swing ride, It goes up really high and then it leans over so at one point you are spinning around higher and sometimes you are lower,  jets of water near the ride also get you rather wet!! We went on this ride twice (I have put a picture at the bottom). Afterwards we went on the Dodgems and me and Hannah shared one and Dad was in his own one, as I was driving Dad kept bumping into us a lot!! I was just getting used to steering as when you steered left it went right, confusing! But I did manage to hit Dad and some other people! :) On the way back home it was very hot and there were traffic jams so.....our car over heated!!! It just stopped working and Dad had to get out and push it onto the Hard Shoulder, me and my sister quickly got out of the car and sat on the hill near the road for safety, Mum put the bonnet up so it could cool down and we all sat on the hill for over an hour waiting for the AA. Everyone was staring at us as they went past, but I suppose you would! Anyway, the AA man came and we got towed to a nearby car park thing where he fixed the car so we could get home, this took around 40 minutes, we weren't the only family to brake down as two other families' cars over heated as well. We left Chessington at around 3:30pm so we should've got home at around 5:00pm but instead we arrived home at 7:30pm! Here is the website link for Chessington and a picture of the swing ride....

 London.

Yesterday (Friday) me and my family went into London to meet some of our friends who live quite far away from us. First of we went to Camden Market and the weather was extremely hot, especially as we were in the city. We went round lots of the stalls and there were lots of food stalls so the people on the stalls kept talking to us offering us a sample, I just said no thank you and kept on walking ;). We looked at lots of different stalls and shops and we went into one shop called "Cyberdog" and it has lots of really funky clothes like: flashing t shirts, glow in the dark hats and really weird and wacky clothes and gadgets!! Its a shop you would go in on a night out though, hehe. All the staff had different styles like green hair, bright pink hair and really big shoes!! It has two really big robots outside the door as well. Later on we all went for lunch and me and my sister, Hannah had chinese while Mum and Dad had mexican wraps. After we had eaten by the cannal we met up again and sat outside with some drinks, I had lemonade. Later on me Mum and Dad went around the market and I bought a really pretty necklace and a ring, we then made our way back to the cannal where we met up again. We all got on a barge and went for a trip down the cannal with other families. After a while we went to London Zoo to pick up people on the boat, it was mainly children. Before they got on it was nice and peaceful then there was loads of shouting and lots of noise and we were fed up so instead of getting off at Camden we got off a Little Venice and went for a walk around. Later on we got a tube to Trafalgar Square and went to this place...It was part of E4 and it was a blow up stage and the stage outside was a shape of a cow, Im not sure what the thing is called but they have comedy shows in the evening, anyway we were allowed onto the ground around it but not in the stage so we were allowed to sit down and have a drink for as long as we want. This man came up to us while we were drinking and he said he wanted to practise his magic tricks. One of his tricks was he ate a piece of cotton and then pulled it out of his eye, YUCK! I think I know how did it as he had sunglasses on so...It was still disgusting though! He actually pulled cotton out of his eye!! :O The another trick he had was he had a pack of cards and he put them in Dad's hands, he did some other things and then he asked Dad to open his hands and there was a plastic block!! He must of put that in instead of the cards but it looked like he put the cards in!! AMAZING! He also did some card tricks and (all the cards were different) one of them was he had a specific card, he shuffled them and it was at the top! They were all different though as you could see they were, the he bent a card a put it in the middle of the pack so we could see it and then suddenly it just moved up the top! It was definitley the same one as only one was bent!! It had us all cuffufled for ages!! :) He was AMAZING and EXTREMLEY TALENTED!  Later on we went on the London Eye. When we were nearly at the top it stopped for a while but then it was moving again. It was really weird but at some point we actually went back in the opposite direction! There was a little boy and he was screeching all the way round it got kind of annoying!! After that we got a tube (to somewhere!) and had Mc Donalds, just before we left to go home. We arrived home at around 11:00pm but it was worth it!! :)

The Beach

Alexandra S's picture

As most of you know im on holiday in the New Forest! I've gone with my parents and my new puppy Percy. We came up here to this some relatives and we are staying with my auntie and my uncle. Yesterday we all went to the beach with my cousins Amber, Ellie, Millie and their dog Lottie! Lottie is 1 years old so is used to water. When we got there we headed straight to the beach where the waves were massive! Lottie ran straight into the water loike the speed of lighting and got soaked. But Percy isn't that used to water so kept on running away from the sea. My little cousin Millie ran in the water and was jumping over the waves while me and my other cousins sat on the rocks. After we played around for a bit we all lay down on the sand. Percy was having a nap when a giant wave came over him and got him sooooo soaked we all laughed as he was whimpering and cuddling up to us. When we left the beach we went to KFC. Me and Millie had popcorn chicken when all the others got burgers. After we ate our lunch we got a treat....... ICE CREAM!!! It was lovely! When we left I went back to my cousins house and played there for a bit.

After all that fun Percy is soo tired and so am I. Today we are going to a forest were there is a river. We are going to try an put Percy in it (Im sure he won't like it) I will see you all when I come back. If you don't know what my puppy looks like he is a little bit bigger than this one.....

Our Cooking Experience!

Yesterday our class did cooking all day with Mr Sainsbury, we were in teams of six and in my team was Frankie T, Marie W, Pelin T, Molly L, Holly  H and me. We cooked food that was rationed in World War Two and it was alot nicer than I thought. First we made sweetcorn fritters and they were really nice , I had almost had Three! YUM! Then we made Welsh Rarebit which is a sort of cheese sauce that you spread on toast. I didn't like the look of it but it was actually really nice. Finally we made the Victoria Sponge which was coverd in chocolate and then coated in coconut. Super YUM!

We  were meant to do the cooking before christmas  when we were actually doing World War Two but we couldnt because of  S.A.T.s.

Cooking day

On  Tuesday  year six had a cooking day with Mr Sainsbury and made sweetcorn fritters, walsh rarebit and victoria sponge with chocolate and coconut topping.

The sweetcorn fritter were in the WW2 because of the rationing when people could not have much food . I enjoyed it very much and loved the sweet corn fritters and the victoria sponge. The  rarebit was not my favourite but i know other people will like it.

This recuont was written by the one and only : sunglass  guy

Cooking Day!

Alexandra S's picture

Yesterday our class had a Cooking day about World War 2 with Mr Sainsbury! My team were: Me, Megan C, Emily W, Jade O, Maria B and Megan G.

First we had to clean our tables and hands to get rid of all the germs. The first meal we made was "Sweetcorn Fritters" I had never had them before so it was nice for a change. We watched Mr Sainsbury make it (he's very good at cooking) My team then started to cook the Sweetcorn Fritters we added all the ingredients till we got to the salt....... let's just say we put a tad too much in! It tasted a bit strange.

The next meal we made was "Welsh Rarebit" Don't think we cooked a rabbit it's just cheese on toast! It was a different kind of cheese. It looked like mash. We mixed all the ingredients together and then spreaded the mixture onto some toast then put it in the grill. We took it out and then we ate it. It was YUMMY!!!!!!!

The last meal we made was Chocolate Victoria sponge. We made the sponge which took ages from all the stirring and then we made the chocolate icing. You could cover the cake in coconut but because I don't  like it I just had a coat of chocolate! When everyone finished we got a plateful of the remaining chocolate icing!

I'm glad we got this expierience because  it's a change from what we normally do in class and now I know how to  cook new things. Thank you Mr Sainsbury for giving us a lovely day!!

Year Six Cooking Experience!

Megan C's picture

Hello my name is Megan and I am in year six. We had two days of relaxing this week and doing fun things as last week we sat our dreaded SATS that are over now!

All day today year six's have been cooking!! In the morning we made a thing called "sweetcorn fritters" which is sweetcorn with a mixture that is then cooked. In our group was: Me, Emily W, Jade O, Maria B, Megan G and Alex S. While we were making the fritters we had to put a little bit of salt into the mixture, lets just say we accidently tipped way to much salt in!! There was quite a lot I suppose but we just strirred it in. Then we had to pour the mixture on a tray and we made it into little circles and they all mixed in together so while Jade was walking to put it in the oven, I quickly separated most of them with a spoon (well I tried). When they had been cooked we ate them and they were lovely!

Afterwards we made...Welsh Rarebit which is basically cheese on toast but different as it doesn't just have cheese. Mr Sainsbury (our caretaker) made the mixture and we had to spoon it onto our toast and spread it. Then we could choose from these toppings: mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon. Unfortunatley there was no bacon left for our group  so we had mushrooms or tomatoes, or both! So after we put the toppings on we put them in the grill and then ate them! They were really nice.

In the afternoon we made another thing: victoria sponge! We cracked one egg, weighed out some flour and put some other ingredients into the bowl and after we had whisked and stirred everything we spooned the mixture in a tray and baked it in the oven for a while. When it was cooked it was taken out of the oven to cool down so we could put the icing on but everyone was getting bored and silly so Miss Ketley took us out for a run around to give the cakes time to cool down. When we came back in, the chocolate icing was put on the cake and our group (Nat L joined our group in the afternoon) cut up the pieces and had the option to have coconut on it, most of us did! Me and Maria B went up to a teacher who was giving out the warm, chocolate icing sugar and we got a big spoonful on our plate and when we walked past everyone in the small hall as we were eating it they rushed to get some, I must say Brook J's face was classic! When he saw the chocolate he quickly went and got some, we shared it with some other girls on another table as well. Today was great fun!!! Two girls from our Class: AK14 called Emily W and Jade O (Who were in our group) said "Today was the best day ever! We had some much fun in our group, I would love to do it again!"  "It was fun to make the food and when we ate them they were really nice!" Quoted Molly L and Shannon C. I wonder what we will do tomorrow in class?

All the food we made was delicious and I want to say a big thank you to Mr Sainsbury who cooked with us, plus all the teachers, parents and LSA's that helped us
