Football Coach-healthy schools week.

This morning a Football Coach came to our school to teach year 6 certain skills in Football. He taught us things like how you dribble the ball and what part of your foot that you kick the ball with.

We played a game where you have to wait untill the Football Coach says go, then you have to try and kick someone else's ball.

Here are some photos, and please coment!

Football At Kings Road

Football Today

Today Class JF13 went outside in the scorching heat and played football with a coach. We started off by doing a warm up where we had to run inbetween footballs that had been placed on the ground, later on we had to do sidesteps through them.

After a while we played a game where we had to kick the football at other player's footballs. If we hit an opponent's football we gained a life and if our football got hit by an opponent we lost a life.

The people that ran it, Chris and Liam, were great at describing what we had to do.

It was very fun and i'd love to go again.

Here is a picture of me playing.

Kings Road Primary School success at Football Tournament

Mr Furness's picture

Kings Road Primary School hosted a football tournament on Saturday 9th May 2009. The event was a great success for all the schools which took part in the competition, and one of the teams from Kings Road made it through to the final.

Here is the Kings Road 'A' Team collecting their runner-up medals at the end of an exhausting morning of 8-minute matches played against all the other teams in the competition.

Kings Road Primary School have been hosting the Football Tournament for the past 5 years but have never made it to the final, so this is our best result yet.

Well done to both the Kings Road 'A' and 'B' teams who represented our school in such a professional manner. Congratulations to all the players and family who came along to support them.

Junior Referee Tournament

Mr Furness's picture

14 Year 6 pupils who have been learning about refereeing over the past 6 weeks took the opportunity to show their talents on Friday 14th November 2008. The 10 girls and 4 boys travelled to Howbridge CE Junior School in Witham where they joined pupils from Lyons Hall in Braintree, Lawford Mead Junior School in Chelmsford and the host school.

Each school played a game of football against each other, whilst those who weren't playing, refereed the games, changing referees at half time. It was a positive experience for all pupils who attended and they returned to school with great excitement.

Congratulations to Nicholas T who was awarded a certificate for Most Sporting Player.

Christopher T

African Research

Yesterday our new topic was all about Africa. I looked in a book all about Kenya. Here's some facts about food and farming. Most families own land, called a shamba where they grow their food. They may also keep cows, goats and sheep for milk or meat. Many people use iron holes to dig the ground. Very few farmers can afford a tractor. In cities, a favourite treat is a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps. Hope you learnt somthing. Here's one fact about school. Children who live in the countryside walk to school. It may take some an hour or more! And the last subject is having fun. Children make footballs from plastic bags tightly wound together with string or rubber bands. Children recycle wire, scrap tin, wood, string and fabric to make toys that move. Thank you for reading my African research. I hope you learnt somthing about Kenya!

Goodbye!
